7 WAYS TO TELL YOU ABOUT HIM

A visual poem from a daughter to her father

7 Ways to Tell You About Him (5 min. 2019) negotiates the collaboration between a father's family home movies and a daughter's production footage to explore the similarities found in their cinematography.

The scripted narration lays out 7 observations of my Dad's 8mm footage alongside my analogue and digital camera work in an effort to learn more about him. He died in 2013, and we never had an opportunity to discuss his camera work or his cinematic eye.

The minimal sound design provides a hint of mood - the voice narration was created to mimic performance to lend an ethereal quality to the read.
